Through armor glass, in heavy gloves
HoverTap™ Rugged is a ruggedized touch and in-air gesture module for defense integrators and rugged display manufacturers. It senses through up to 20 mm of armor glass, armour glass, ballistic glass or polycarbonate plus air gap combined, where standard projected capacitive (PCAP) tops out around 2 to 6 mm. It works in heavy tactical and cold-weather gloves with no thickness limit, and reads in-air gestures where contact is impractical: gloved, wet, or in a vibrating vehicle.

HoverTap™ Rugged works behind rugged casing and up to 20 mm of cover material and air gap combined. It reads heavy tactical gloves with no thickness limit, in-air gestures where contact is impractical, and is tamper proof by design: the sacrificial cover, not the display, takes the hit.
Defense and Public Safety Applications
Public safety uses the same module: in-vehicle mobile data terminals (MDT) for police, fire and EMS work with the same tactical gloves, weather and decontamination wipe-down as military equipment.

You identify the equipment that has to work through a barrier: armor glass, a sealed enclosure, or heavy tactical gloves.

We configure the module to your environment. Two options:
The HoverTap™ touch and in-air gesture sensor alone, integrated into your existing rugged display.
The complete assembly, with LCD, controller, firmware and a ruggedized enclosure specified to your MIL-STD-810 or IP67 requirements.

We support your team through software integration via the API, USB HID out of the box.
